China's Second Grinding Wheel Plant (referred to as "the Second Sand Plant"), located on Huashan Road, Zhongyuan District, Zhengzhou City, was built with the assistance of the German Democratic Republic. It was completed and put into production in 1964, with a total investment of 150 million yuan, which is equivalent to the five national cotton factories in Zhengzhou. The total investment was the largest wheel factory in Zhengzhou at that time, with the largest investment in the factory area and the largest scale in the country. The second sand plant was planned to be built in 1953 and was one of the key industrial projects built during the “One Five-Year Plan” period in New China. It was completed and put into production in 1964. According to the records of the plant, the plant is composed of 6 production workshops, 2 auxiliary workshops and 2 power workshops. The factory building, production process, and product quality are all carried out in accordance with the standards of the German Democratic Republic. East German experts have submitted nearly 3,000 written suggestions.

The second sand plant has a unique architectural style and ingenious design, and there is an aerial corridor between the factories. Among them, the ceramic grinding wheel manufacturing workshop with Bauhaus architectural style is the largest and most characteristic factory building of the factory, with a single-storey construction area of 75,000 square meters, which is extremely rare in China.

In 1980, the total industrial output value of No. 2 Sand Factory reached more than 85.08 million yuan, becoming the largest and most important comprehensive abrasive and abrasivetool manufacturing enterprise in the country at that time. The export of products to foreign countries began in the early 1980s, and it became famous throughout the country.
